HONESTY - REPRESENTATION - GROWTH
WHO I AM
District 7 has been my home for over 41 years. During those years, I have served this community in different capacities. I have been a member of Sharon Baptist Church for 35 years where I have served as a deacon, Upward Basketball volunteer, Awanas and Men's Sunday School teacher. For eight (8) years, I served on the Metropolitan Planning Commission. I have served on the Grand Jury. I have been a member of the Powell Republican Club, the Halls/Powell Republican Club, and the Elections Chair Person for the 73rd Precinct. I had the honor of working for Habitat for Humanity on various houses, as well as the Habitat Park in downtown Knoxville.
Personally: I married my junior high sweetheart Margaret on August 23, 1969. In February of 2012, she was diagnosed with appendix cancer and on June 12, 2013 lost her battle with cancer. We moved to Knoxville from Newport, TN while I attended the University of Tennessee. Upon graduation, we searched all over Knox County looking for a place to build a home. After a trip up I-75 to Exit 112 at Emory Road, we decided this community is where we wanted to start a family. We had two wonderful daughters, who have blessed us with two great son-in-laws and five amazing grandchildren. They all live in the Powell Community near us. Over the years, Margaret and I were blessed with the ability to travel across the United Stat,es, meet a lot of wonderful people, and see some amazing places.
Professionally: I am retired from Sears Contract Sales after 43 years of service. During which time, I was nationally ranked as a top 5 salesman numerous times. I have been a member of the Home Builders Association for 33 years and served on the Government Affairs Committee for the Home Builders Association in Sevier, Knox, and Blount Counties and on the State level. I worked as the director for the Home Show sponsored by the HBA of Knoxville and helped establish the HBA of Sevier County and HBA of Cumberland County. I served as Associate Director of the Tennessee Home Builders Association and was recognized as Associate of the Year. Currently, I serve as Lifetime director of the Home Builders Association.
